The journey of the Autumn Landscapes Collection

Fluid inks. I’d seen them used all over Instagram and had been curious for quite some time - could it be the perfect link in combining watercolors and inks..? I bought a couple of bottles that stared at me for quite some time before I got myself in the head space of total immersion.

I chose a really sturdy paper that would hold up to many layers as I figured it might take some time until I got it right. Full disclosure - the journey was not always attractive. Acrylics are not watercolors and there was quite a bit of frustration somewhere mid process.

However, acrylics can also be painted in opaque layers so any mistakes could be painted over and THAT my friends - is what makes this a winner. The mix of transparent fluidity and opaque brush strokes came out quite beautifully. It would never steal the shine from acrylics on canvas or watercolors, but it’s a lovely third option. Next up - larger sizes!

Nine little landscapes (29x38 cm/11,5x15”) came out of this in the end and I am really proud of the lot of them. The collection will be live at 7 pm (GMT+1) on November 20th.
