Planning 2020 like a boss

It’s January and I do like everyone else at the moment - produce ambitious plans for the year to come. I even bought a really expensive paper planner this time around for some extra motivation.

When I started this little venture a few months ago I was quite high on the fact that I got to paint everyday. I launched myself into projects with such enthusiasm, announced launches before things were done which forced me to work ridiculous hours. And now that I’ve had some time off, enjoying life outside the studio, I’m boiling with new ideas again.

However; If I do want to do this full-time in a sustainable way I need to have a plan and work accordingly. According to Gretchen Rubin’s test on the four tendencies (If you haven’t taken it - www.gretchenrubin.com - it’s free) I’m an Upholder which means I get sh*t done. If it’s on a list, it’ll be checked off the list, no matter the cost. I’ve been close to burn-out before and I do hope I’m old enough to slap myself into shape if I venture down that path again. I want to stay energetic, I want to keep my body happy, I want creativity to flow like a spring flood and I won’t have any of that unless I pace myself.

So this time around I’m making quarterly plans and my focus for the first quarter is education. I get asked about techniques almost daily and have had several offerings of teaching classes so my plan is to record a handful of e-courses. Beginners courses in watercolors and acrylics, some courses in advanced techniques and maybe something on color theory. Fun right?! I´m feeling quite excited about it, this time I won’t drop a launch date but my goal is to have at least two done by the end of the quarter.

If there’s anything in particular you’d like to learn from me, please let me know! I keep saying making art is for everyone and this is my chance to prove it. I’m quite determined to making it easy enough for a five-year old to comprehend, I intend to try everything on my kids, hehe. If you’re on my mailing list you’ll be the first to know when they’re available!
