New beginnings
Our little family has landed in our new home in Varberg (on the west coast of Sweden) and it feels like we literary just left our old lives behind. We’ve been talking about settling in a smaller town ever since our first baby was born - somewhere quieter, simpler and away from the busyness of the city. I missed the outdoors and longed for bike rides alongside poppy fields with an ocean close by and so far it seems we’ve landed in just the place.
As an unexpected bonus, there’s a pasture full of horses next to our back yard so we’ve been spending our evenings watching the sun set over the land, listening to horse tails swatting flies away.
As some of you know, I went through some pretty ugly stages of burnout in the spring - another reason why it’s been a bit quiet in my corner. I’ve written about it in more detail on my blog if you’d like to read more about it, it’s such a common thing these days and I urge anyone to do their best to stay clear of it.
I’m also getting settled in my new painting studio! We devoted the top floor of the house to it, put in several skylights and let me tell you - working in bright daylight compared to the basement studio I was in before is pretty amazing so don’t be surprised if my work suddenly comes out cheerful ;)
