An artist studio mess

I wish I was relaxed enough to be able to share the state of my studio right now, but I too have boundaries. I'm magnificent at starting projects and my studio is big enough to host A LOT OF PROJECTS. My husband peeked his head in there the other day and asked if this is what the inside of my brain looks like (probably). But this season really invites creativity and play and well, I'm running with it.

Today I'm re-stretching a canvas that had an encounter with a toddler in my gallery this summer. In a corner of the gallery I had my easel set up to paint and a few paintings was laying out on the floor to dry. As I was talking to a customer I noticed at the corner of my eye - a child jumping on one of the canvases as if it was a trampoline. As his parents noticed me running towards him in panic (felt like slow-motion) they casually took his hand and said “Come on honey, let's go somewhere else”. The painting was fine and with a bit of re-stretching it'll be as good as new but I've learned the lesson of not treating a public space as my own studio floor.
