Ever since I began the journey as a full time artist I've been asked if I do commissions, but with very few exceptions I've said no. I've done that for a few different reasons, but in all honesty - the main reason has been imposter syndrome.
Every time I finish a painting that I'm happy with I secretly figure it was a fluke and most likely the end of my lucky streak. I've pictured customers coming to me with pictures of places they love and me then butchering these landscapes beyond recognition, realizing I really can't paint at all.
But I'm thinking this might be the year I put my big girl pants on, shake some fear off and open up a few commission spots. I won't make it official on my website as I want to enter these waters gently so only extending the opportunity to my friends on this list for now. It won't be a first come first serve thing, if you have something in mind - let me know what it is and I'll send you a quote if it's something I truly believe I can make beauty out of.
COACHING
Another thing I've debated on offering is art business coaching. I very frequently get questions about how I've done my website, make my prints, sell my artwork and so on and I get it! The first steps of forming a living out of making art (Hint - it involves a lot more than painting!) are very confusing and scary. There's no manual to turn to, you know you have to find your very own path but how do we even get into the forest? I came in to this with 20+ years of experience in the marketing world so I do have a bit of knowledge to share. Let me know what might be of interest to you and I'll see what I could offer to help you find your next steps. The consultations would take place via Zoom, either in groups or individually.
Listening to American dirt by Jeanine Cummins and finding it hard to breathe at times - highly recommend!
